Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
I made a point of watching him closely today. Just to have a look at his all round play and what he brings to the team. When he was a taken off, to a rapture of applause and boos, some people behind us started moaning.

"Why not boo song..oh wait, he 's from barcelona"

"Why not boo noble..oh wait , he's from canning town isnt he"

"Why boo nolan, at least he's put in a shift"

I think sometimes people watch a different game to me. I have been fortunate to play football at a reasonably high level, but for the life of me i cant see what he brings to the team? Forget his big wages, even if he was on £100 a week i wouldnt pick him.

It actually bugs me that some west ham "fans" think he adds any value to the team?

I don't think people boo Nolan it's more booing the decision the play him at all so the booing is more aimed at the management for playing him. If you watched him closely you'll have noticed that compared to Song and others he's just not up to speed to play at this level anymore, not his fault, we all get old, it's the management that needs to make the correct decision.

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
No!

Song - clearly a class above, at least he tries to do sometihng different and make things happen - more comes off than not

Noble - Clearly puts in a shift - has more good days than bad

Nolan - has very little positive impact on a game , he goes missing for large parts, has considerably more bad games than average (can't even say good), and everything he does seems to be in exaggerated slo-mo mode

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
IMO

Let’s be brutally honest here, part of the reason he’s gets booed, “PART” is down to the fact he’s a northerner, odds on if he was from London he wouldn’t get half the stick he gets.

and for my money, hes not as bad as some make him out to be, no worse than others in the team at times but they get a fraction of the stick for it.

no, it's not unfair. he is now crap. is he to blame for playing most games, no. that's the walrus's fault

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
I love how people make out like Nolan is some old cart horse that is just waiting for retirement.

He's 32. There are loads and loads of excellent players still doing very well at 32.

Kevin Nolan isn't one of them. He's just shit.....

He's an impact sub now . Thats all. Last 20 mins when a team is looking for a scrappy goal.

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
It's as much to do with his association with another unpopular figure in Allardyce as anything.

Had Nolan left West Ham after our first season back there's no doubt he would have been fondly remembered by our support.

As it happened, he's stayed here too long and Allardyce continues to pick him to the detriment of the team.

It's got absolutely fuck all to do with him being northern. I don't remember Alvin Martin getting stick for being a scouser.

Carlton Cole isn't a northerner and he seems to get a load of stick these days as well.

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
It's not at all unfair. He contributes very little and this has been the case for most of his time here. He's got out of jail in the past by getting a few goals but got even slower now. It annoys me that he's overweight too.

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?

Cole gets a lev of criticism that is a reaction to some of our thicker elements of the support that like to brand him a "legend" and seem to think he took some sort of voluntary pay cut to stay (he didn't)

He is fucking rubbish, and has been stealing a living off us for years but the abuse wouldn't be half as bad if some mongs didn't put him on a pedestal just because he tweets some sycophantic bollocks every now and then directed at the club that continues to make him a millionaire as he sits on his arse.

They said during today's game coverage (here in the States), that WBA had agreed to pay Cole 5m a year in wages!

5m!!! 5 fucking million!!!

NCHammer, that can't be right, surely!

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
Most of Nolan's criticism is born out of frustration that has built up over time. It's obvious he'll play crap so you're just waiting for it half the time.

We have some other shit players like Amalfitano who gets lauded as good because he is less familiar.

So, yeah a little unfair at times.

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
I'm sorry but he has always been shit. I'm not having this bollocks that he helped get us out the championship It has always been like playing with 10 men with him. At least before he used to nip in with a few goals.

I can understand fans getting the hump booing a player during the game. It ain't very helpful to the team and makes is look bad. Ranting on the like of here etc fair enough.

I just don't understand why he continually gets picked. It ain't his fault he is shit! It's that cunt of a manager for keep sending him out there.

Re: Is the critiscism of nolan unfair?
I thought the same thing but they were talking about the Ideye transfer being cancelled and then repeated it later when Cole came on.....

That's 96,000 a week. Their research must've been wrong.

Maybe they meant 5 million over the course of the contract which is still about 4.9m too much!
